I can’t be the only person realizing how much more people on Facebook use their status updates these days. Not just to actually tell you what they’re doing — in fact that’s actually quite rare. It’s more like a look into what they’re feeling at the moment or a string of song lyrics they have personalized because of the sentence structure format it needs to be in.

Now Twitter is also growing these days with the older folk. Not many Facebookers using both these days, cuz all their friends are just on Facebook — no need for 2 sites if everyone you want to see your all-important status updates is there anyway.

So by inspiration of the Facebook status of local marketing guru Tyler Smith of Traction Marketing, I agree that Facebook should buy Twitter and combine forces. Make it a main feature of Facebook, and incorporate some of Twitter’s more advanced status features like links and responses. Twitter would still be available for the people who don’t want a Facebook, but creating a Facebook, would just be reasonable and encouraged, because on Twitter you still fill out the same profile thing.

That’s my 2 cents on the matter. Facebook, buy Twitter.
